Biography

Youngbum received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Chemical and Biological Engineering from Seoul National University in 2015, where he conducted research on developing materials for wearable bioelectronics under the supervision of Prof. Dae-Hyeong Kim. Following this, he worked at the Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology, focusing on 2D materials and nanomaterials. He then joined the Ph.D. program in Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign under the guidance of Prof. Paul Braun. His doctoral research focused on self-healing thermoset polymers and embedded 3D printing via chemical activation. Youngbum joined the Hawker group in September 2024 as a postdoctoral researcher.
