Graduate Institution: The Scripps Research Institute
Yan received his B.A. degree in chemistry from Cornell University in 2015, where he worked on supramolecular catalysis and natural product synthesis under the supervision of Prof. Chad A. Lewis. He then joined the Ph.D. program at the Scripps Research Institute under the guidance of Prof. Jin-Quan Yu. In the Yu group, he developed novel transient directing groups and ligands for Pd-catalyzed diverse C(sp3)-H activation reactions of free amines. During his PhD, he was a recipient of the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship. Yan joined the group of Prof. Craig Hawker in July 2020 as a postdoctoral scholar.
Yan's research focuses on the synthesis, separation, and self-assembly of novel block copolymers.
