Roberto Chavez


Roberto is a rising 4th year at University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) pursuing a Chemistry B.A with a focus in environmental science. Before coming to UCSB, he attended Santa Monica College were he joined STEM/SRI, a program to increase the number of underrepresented minorities in scientific fields. He spent summer of 2016 at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) researching molecular machine synthesis under the mentorship of Dr. Miguel Garcia-Garibay. In the same year, he became part of UCSB’s McNair Scholars program which helps students from culturally diverse background pursuing a Ph. D. In Summer 2017, he started working at the Hawker Lab with Dr. Zachariah Page. Roberto’s hobbies include going to concerts, festivals and watching independent films.
