Luke has recently arrived from Melbourne, Australia; he is visiting the group on joint fellowships from the American Australian Association and the Australian Research Council (Sir Keith Murdoch Fellowship and Australian Linkage International Fellowship). Luke completed a Bachelor of Engineering (2003) from Melbourne University, and a PhD (2007) in polymer chemistry under the guidance of Prof. Greg Qiao and Prof. David Solomon, from the same university. Luke comes to the Hawker lab after a post doctoral position with Prof. Frank Caruso, where he worked to develop new methodologies for the self assembly of polymers.
Luke is working at the interface of polymer chemistry, organic chemistry and materials chemistry. Using controlled polymerization strategies and efficient functionalization techniques Luke is investigating new methods to form self assembled nanostructures for use in advanced biological applications.
