A new Swede! Per Pelle Antoni was born in 1979 in Stockholm, Sweden. Pelle graduated from The Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in 2004 and shortly after that he joined the Hult-group at Coating Technology, KTH, as a PhD student having Prof. Anders Hult and A.Prof. Michael Malkoch as supervisors. He earned his Ph.D. degree in June 2008 after defending his thesis titled Functional Dendritic Materials Using Click Chemistry: Synthesis, Characterizations and Applications. Following the tracks of former Ph.D. students from KTH, Pelle joined the Hawker-group at UCSB as a postdoctoral fellow in September 2008. This was possible since Pelle was highly recommended by the Swedish king Carl Gustaf of Sweden, who also happens to be a close friend of Pelles family.
At MRL, he will focus on developing drug eluting coatings for stent applications.
